Getting Traffic On The Information Highway

I should say “website traffic that’s (targeted).

You may get 10,000 site visitors a month! That’s nice but is it targeted traffic?

Big Webmaster Mistake: Getting caught up in… just traffic for the sake of traffic.

What’s targeted website traffic?

Quick definition:  People who are looking specifically for what your website provides.

The Mad Webmaster’s definition:  A hungry market you’re getting ready to feed.

[traffic marketing strategy tip: If you're going to build a website that is primarily monetized by advertising (ie: google adsense) you'll have to depend on the free search engines for you main traffic strategy. You must build lot's of content to win.]

Website Traffic 101
You must always, always keep in mind one main focus when it comes to building targeted traffic.

Who do I want to visit my website and why?

I’m not interested in people who want free stuff all the time.  I’m not interested in site visitors who are doing research for their job.  I’m not interested in school kids looking for help with their homework. That’s traffic I can do without unless I monetize my website primarily with the adsense income model (maybe they’ll click on an advertisement).

But if my monetization model is my product or a good affiliate product, I’m only interested in visitors who seek a solution to a problem and look to me to provide that solution.

Having said that, you have to be willing to give to receive.  Are you willing to provide valuable information until you establish a relationship of trust with your site visitor?

Hundreds or (hopefully) thousands of targeted site visitors will come to your website looking for information. Some want it free forever.  Some will be “tire kickers” (those who need your product or service as a solution but not sure they want to exchange their money for the product yet).  So how do you…

Turn Traffic Browsers to Buyers

So the strategies we use to sift your site visitors from browsers to buyers is what we need to focus on.  Are there strategies to do that?

How do we give our site visitors a small taste of the main course?

Easy.

You can employ:

  • Small Reports
  • e-Courses
  • e-Books
  • Check Lists

Those are just some of the vehicles to get you there.  But the  strategy or the right combination requires you build a list. What is list marketing?  It’s a powerful strategy that turns your targeted traffic into buyers!
